Overheard a barista threaten to logout a customer's bank account

I was getting coffee yesterday and this guy at the next table was on the phone loudly arguing with his bank. He told the rep he'd 'just change the password when he felt like it.' The rep must have said something back because he yelled 'you can't force me to logout.' I almost choked on my latte. After I got home I checked my own online banking and realized I had sessions open on like 3 old devices. Did a full password reset and logged out everywhere else. Anybody else ever forget about old logins sitting around?

Found an old tablet once with my banking still logged in from like two years ago. Hadn't even turned it on in months. Kind of made me wonder what else is floating around out there with my info on it.

Dude that gives me the chills honestly. I found my old phone in a drawer last month, charged it up, and it still had my PayPal logged in from like 2019. Not just the app but the actual website too, cookies still active. I remember thinking what if someone grabbed this at a yard sale or something, they'd have full access to my bank. I swear I've thrown away at least two old laptops and a couple hard drives without wiping them right. It's scary how much digital junk we leave behind without even thinking about it.

Read an article recently that said there's something like 300 million forgotten online accounts out there just sitting around with old passwords and cookies. Made me go through my own stuff and it was honestly embarrassing how many old logins I found. Had a streaming service I hadn't touched in two years still active on a family member's Fire Stick. Another time I found my Spotify still signed into a library computer from like 2018. It's the kind of thing you never really think about until someone brings it up, then suddenly you're panic-checking everything.
