Password manager locked me out for 2 days, now what?

Last Tuesday my password manager decided to force a 2FA reset right before a client audit in Phoenix, and I couldn't get into my own vault for 48 hours. Support kept telling me to check my recovery codes, but those were inside the vault, so that was useless. Has anyone else had a password manager brick itself at the worst possible time, and do you keep a separate offline backup now?
