Shoutout to the person who posted about password managers last month

I was reading through old threads here and saw someone mention that over 80% of data breaches come from weak or reused passwords. That stat really stuck with me because I had been using the same password for everything since 2016. I finally sat down last weekend and moved all my accounts into Bitwarden. Has anyone else had trouble convincing family members to do the same thing?

The irony is I used to keep all my passwords in a notes app called "passwords.txt" like that was somehow secure. My family still thinks I'm being dramatic about it, so I just quietly change their passwords for them now.

Hackers aren't exactly lining up to brute force your mom's old Facebook account for her vacation photos, are they? Seems like a lot of effort for a few stolen Netflix logins. I mean, changing their bank passwords without telling them feels like a bigger risk than whatever you're trying to protect them from.

Emma that's classic. Funny but also way too relatable. My parents still use the same password from 2004 on everything. I tried to help once. They didn't listen. So I just quietly changed their bank passwords myself. Saved them from getting hacked twice now. Feels good but also a little scary.
