Used to think password managers were overkill until I got hit with a $300 fraud charge

My brother kept pushing Bitwarden on me for months and I brushed him off. Then someone got into my email last month and drained my PayPal before I caught it. Has anyone else had to deal with chargebacks after something like this?

The $300 fraud charge thing hits close to home. Someone got into my Netflix and I thought whatever, but then they used my card to buy some crypto thing for $150 before I caught it. My bank was a nightmare to deal with on the chargeback, took like six weeks and a ton of phone calls. @wesleyb20 is right about alerts being key I set mine up for anything over $25 after that. Now I use a password manager too and it feels stupid that I didn't do it sooner. The chargeback process almost made me give up but I kept pushing and eventually got my money back.

@wesleyb20 nailed it with the alert thing. I started using Bitwarden after that PayPal mess and set up text alerts for any transaction over $10. Now I catch stuff before it becomes a chargeback headache, saved me twice already.

Oh man, I feel your pain. I learned the same lesson when someone bought $200 worth of video games on my account because I used "password123" for everything.

Three million dollars man, how did that even happen? Did the company not have any two-factor authentication or alerts set up for transactions that big? I'm asking cause I work with a small business and we almost got hit for thirty grand once, same kind of scam but our bank caught it. But with payroll it's got to be way more complicated, were you the only one with access or did someone else on your team mess up too? Just trying to wrap my head around how that much money walks out the door without someone noticing.
