Vent: I kept using the same password for everything until my old college email got hit

For about five years I used one password across my bank, email, and even a forum in Portland. A phishing scam on that forum got my login and they tried to get into everything else. How many of you still think a strong unique password for each site is too much work?

Still, who actually checks all that stuff?

Well @jackson.faith, my insurance company checked it all after a small fender bender last year. They wanted the exact model number of my dash cam and the receipt for my phone mount. If your policy says you have to report certain gear, they will absolutely look into it when a claim is filed. I've heard of people getting denied for not listing a cheap bike rack. It feels silly until you need them to pay out.

Know a guy who had his whole claim held up over a trailer hitch. He bought it used, never thought to add it, and after a rear-end collision the adjuster spotted it in the photos. They made him prove when he bought it and everything, just like evan_green52 said. Took weeks to sort out over a two hundred dollar part. He was sure they wouldn't care.
