Warning: My paper password log turned into a liability overnight
I used to keep all my passwords written in a small notebook tucked away in my home office. For years, this felt secure because it was offline and away from digital threats. Then, during a routine clean-up, I misplaced that notebook and panicked about who might find it. On one side, physical records can't be hacked remotely, which seems safe. On the other, losing them puts everything at risk if they fall into the wrong hands. I've since moved to a password app, but I still wonder if the old way had some merit. It's a trade-off between control and convenience that keeps me up at night. What's your take? Do you think handwritten passwords are ever a good idea now?

Ugh, that sinking feeling is the worst! I did a mix too but used little code words only I would get for the paper list.

Oh man, I felt that panic in my bones. I did the exact same thing with a sticky note sheet a few years back and tore my apartment apart looking for it. The control of having it on paper feels solid until that moment you can't find it. I still use a mix now, really simple passwords on paper for low risk stuff and the app for everything important.

Honestly that "tore my apartment apart" feeling is too real. My buddy lost his whole paper list when his dog ate it off the coffee table. He had to reset like fifteen accounts, it was a whole mess. He just uses the app for everything now.

Can't believe you used a sticky note sheet for passwords. That's like leaving your keys in the door. @susan_baker85's code words are a neat trick, but I'd still lose the paper. I stick to the app now after my own list went through the wash.
