A client told me my emails sounded like a robot and it stung but she was right
Back when I started freelancing in Austin around 2017, I used these formal phrases like 'per our conversation' and 'please advise' because I thought it sounded professional. One client finally snapped and said 'do you actually talk like this or did a template write this for you?' I swapped to writing how I actually speak, using shorter sentences and my own words. Has anyone else gotten feedback that made them totally change their communication style?

Per our conversation" - yeah, that one always got me too. What specifically did you swap in for those old phrases that worked best?

Funny you mention that, @linda_dixon49 - I used to defend "per our conversation" but you've changed my mind completely.
