Bought a $40 car detailing kit and it did nothing but smear dirt around
I saw this kit at the auto parts store in Akron last Saturday and thought it would save me a trip to the car wash. The spray wax left streaks everywhere and the microfiber cloth shed so much lint I had to grab my old t-shirts to finish the job. Wasted a whole afternoon scrubbing the same spot over and over. The interior cleaner smelled like cheap perfume and left a sticky residue on my dashboard. Basically flushed $40 and an hour of my time down the drain. Anyone else fall for those all-in-one detailing kits that promise too much?

@rowan969 nailed it, those kits are 100% repackaged junk. I grabbed one from O'Reilly's a few months back in a panic before a buddy's wedding and the "premium wax" left a hazy film that took three passes with actual Turtle Wax to fix. The spray bottle broke on the second use and leaked chemical all over my trunk liner. Lesson learned, it is literally cheaper to just buy a bottle of decent soap and a pack of quality rags from the hardware store than to gamble on those shiny boxes again.

Yo that sounds like the same junk I saw on clearance at our local autozone. Those kits are pure garbage, they just repackage cheap chemicals and hope you don't notice.

Is it REALLY that serious though? I mean yeah it's cheap junk but it still probably works okay for a quick touch up.
