Finally said no to the Sunday family dinner invite
For 6 weeks straight I said yes to my mom's Sunday dinner even though it meant 90 minutes of driving and no time to prep for Monday. Last week I told her I needed a rain check and used that time to lay out my whole week's clothes and lunches. My mom was cool about it, but now I'm wondering if I should make this a regular thing or if I'm just being lazy.

Yeah because skipping dinner with your mom is really going to fix your life.

...and honestly my friend Sarah tried that exact move with her mom's birthday dinner last year. She thought skipping it would buy her time to finish a work project, but her mom showed up at her apartment that night with the whole cake and a disappointed face. Now she has to sit through photo albums every single Sunday for eternity. Skipping family stuff never works out, it just makes the guilt worse lol.
