Found a dead mouse in my air vent and now I can't sleep without checking every room

Last Tuesday morning I heard scratching in the hallway wall. Called my landlord, he said it's probably just the building settling. Three days later I smelled something weird coming from the living room vent. Pulled off the grate and there was a dead mouse stuck in the duct. Took me an hour with a wire hanger and a flashlight to get it out. Now every little creak at night makes me grab a flashlight. How do you guys get over that feeling after finding something gross in your own home?

Are you really that scared of a dead mouse though? I found a whole family of raccoons in my attic once and just sealed the hole and moved on. At the end of the day it's just a tiny animal, not a ghost or something.

No joke, I still get spooked by random house noises days after a mouse too!
