Hit 1000 days on my daily budgeting app streak and it made me rethink my whole approach to money.

My friend's streak ended and she cried happy tears.

Was the streak something she actually wanted to end?

Honestly, sometimes you just get sick of the daily pressure. I've been there. You keep it going out of habit, not because you still care. When it finally breaks, it feels like a relief, like a chore you don't have to do anymore. That's when you realize you wanted it to end all along. The freedom is way better than keeping some number alive.

Read an article somewhere that talked about how breakups can actually release a ton of cortisol from your system. Makes sense, that constant low-level stress of keeping something going that's not working. A friend of mine ended a three year relationship and said her shoulders literally dropped an inch from her ears the next day. That feeling of "oh, I don't have to do this anymore" is pretty telling.
