I realized everyone at my gym does the same weird thing with the adjustable benches.

My gym in Springfield has at least eight adjustable benches. I've noticed almost nobody puts the pin back in the rack after they adjust the incline. They just leave it on the floor. What's the specific weird thing you're seeing people do?

Actually got the gym staff to put up a funny sign by the rack and it cut down on lost pins big time.

That's a solid idea with the sign. It works because it's right there in the moment, not some rule on a poster across the room. The visual reminder right at the spot where they commit the crime is key. My old gym tried a general "re-rack your weights" campaign and it did nothing for the pins. You gotta target the specific dumb habit where it happens.

Yeah, that's exactly it, @paul_taylor21. The weird thing is they take the pin out to adjust it, then just leave the pin on the floor next to the bench. It's like the last step of putting it back just doesn't register for some people.
