I was at the grocery store and saw a mom let her kid pick out one treat

Honestly, it made me think about how I always say no to my own kids in the checkout line to avoid a scene, but maybe that small choice matters more than I thought.

Man, my friend Sarah used to be so strict with her son about snacks. One day she just said yes to a pack of gum at the gas station. Kid lit up like it was Christmas. Now she lets him pick one small thing sometimes, and she says it's cut down on the big fights way more than she ever thought it would.

Honestly, I started doing the one treat thing a few years back. It sounds silly, but I set a rule for myself that I have to say yes to the first thing they ask for, as long as it's under like two bucks. It completely changed the whole checkout vibe. They don't beg for ten things anymore because they know they get the one pick. It saves my sanity and feels like a tiny win for them.

It's funny how those little moments of yes can build up over time, more than we realize.

Yeah, totally. I see that with small habits, like @wade871 said. They add up without you even noticing until you look back.
