Just learned that Norway has more electric cars than petrol cars now

I was scrolling through some stats yesterday and saw that Norway hit this point in 2024 where EVs outnumbered gas cars. I had no idea it was that far along. They're at like 88% of new car sales being electric now. I read it on a government transport site while looking up something else. I always thought the US was ahead on this stuff, but we're way behind. Has anyone else seen a country stat that totally caught you off guard?

And @ray356 is spot on about the tax breaks, but whats wild to me is how they managed to get the whole country on board with that. Like here in the US we cant even agree on basic incentives without it turning into a political fight.

@stone.lisa a buddy of mine was visiting family over there last year and said every other car was electric.

I read that Norway's tax breaks made EVs cheaper than gas cars, so it wasn't just hype.
