My 'quick' garage cleanout turned into a two day project
I figured I'd just move some boxes around in my garage on Saturday morning, but I found my old high school yearbooks and got totally sidetracked looking through them. What I thought would take an hour ended up taking over six hours across two days, and I barely made a dent in the actual cleaning. Has anyone else had a simple task completely derailed by a random find?

Yearbooks are a classic trap. The real danger for me is finding old project parts. I'll spot a piece of wood or a broken gadget and suddenly I'm trying to fix it instead of cleaning. My brain flips into repair mode and the original plan is gone. It turns a simple tidy-up into a whole engineering session. The garage ends up messier than when I started.

Ever think you were the only one? @simonp76's comment made me realize my whole garage is just a graveyard for half-finished projects.

My garage has that same problem, it's like a museum of good intentions. I went in to find a screwdriver last week and ended up rebuilding a lawnmower carburetor I haven't used since 2019. The floor is still covered in tools but now the mower sort of runs. Total victory and also a complete failure.
