Noticed my morning commute got 12 minutes faster after they changed the lights on Broadway

I take Broadway through downtown every day to get to my job at the dental lab. For like 3 years I was sitting through these long red lights that seemed to take forever. Then about 2 months ago they retimed the whole stretch and now I hit green after green until I get past 15th Street. Has anyone else noticed a difference in their usual route after a traffic light change?

Exactly at the corner of Broadway and Oak Street I used to sit for a full 2 minutes every morning. I hated that light so much I actually looked up how to complain to the city about it. But after they changed everything about 6 weeks ago I fly through that intersection now. I was pretty skeptical when they first started messing with the timing. I figured they would just make it worse like they always do. But honestly they finally got something right for once. I save about 10 minutes total on my drive now and it makes a huge difference when you do it 5 days a week.

You gotta love when the city actually gets something RIGHT for once. My tip is to look up the city's traffic engineering office on their website. They usually post an email or a form where you can send feedback about light timing. If enough people report the same intersection, they might actually do a study. I did that for a light near our kids' school and it took a few months but they eventually changed it to a longer green light during pickup and dropoff hours. The key is being SPECIFIC with the time of day and the intersection name. It helps if you time your wait with a stopwatch too. That gives them actual data instead of just saying "the light takes forever." Seriously, a little complaint goes a long way if you catch them at the right time.
