Rant: Spent 45 minutes fixing a typo in my own resume because i was too proud to use spell check

I was sitting at my desk last Tuesday night, applying for a warehouse supervisor job. I had my resume all polished up, thought it was perfect. Hit send, then realized i spelled 'inventory' as 'inventroy' in three different places. It was right there in the header. Ended up cancelling the application, redoing the whole thing. Now i'm paranoid every time i submit something. Has anyone else ever caught a dumb mistake right after hitting submit?

mark436 makes a good point about the rush, man. I actually read somewhere that people are more likely to spot errors in other people's work than their own because of how our brains fill in what we expect to see. That explains why I triple-read my resume and still missed "inventroy" every single time until after I hit submit. It's like my brain was autocorrecting it to the right spelling without me even realizing it.

Wait, isn't that just our brains being lazy and skipping the hard work?

Think about how many little things we just ASSUME are perfect without actually checking. I've caught myself doing the same junk with price quotes for clients, rushing it out and hoping for the best. It's like we're always trying to save a minute now only to lose ten later.
