So called 'quiet quitting' saved my sanity last month
Everyone at work was talking about how quiet quitting is lazy and unprofessional. But man, after I broke down crying in the bathroom for the third time in one week I figured I had to try something different. I stopped answering emails at 7pm and stopped volunteering for extra projects nobody else wanted. My manager actually pulled me aside and said I seemed happier and my regular work got better. Has anyone else found that setting boundaries actually made them more productive at their actual job?

Quiet quitting isn't lazy, it's just doing your job and nothing extra. Sounds like your boss saw you were burning out and the boundaries helped.

My buddy tried that and his annual review said he's "not showing initiative" anymore. They started giving the interesting projects to the new guy who stays late. Just saying, sometimes playing the game keeps you in the game.

Three weeks into quiet quitting and my blood pressure actually went down 15 points doc said. I used to stay late every night trying to be the "team player" and my actual work suffered because I was so exhausted. Now I leave at 5 sharp and my project deadlines got better because I'm actually focused during the day instead of running on fumes. Feels backwards but working less made me better at my job.
