Spent 45 minutes arguing with a self checkout machine over a $0.60 avocado, and I still paid for it
Stopped at the Safeway on Powell after work to grab like 4 things and the self checkout scanned my avocado as a mango, which was $1.75 more. I hit the little help button expecting a quick fix, but the screen froze for 3 solid minutes while I stood there holding a bag of frozen peas getting colder by the second. The worker came over, shrugged, and said she could not override it because the register already locked the weight, so she just walked me to a regular lane and rescanned everything. What should have been a 2 minute trip turned into 20 minutes, and honestly I am still not sure if I won that fight or lost it. Does anyone just give up and pay the wrong price when this happens, or am I the only one stubborn enough to stand there?
Oh man, that employee walking you to a regular lane is lowkey the best part, she basically admitted defeat on your behalf. Honestly if we all just keep standing there holding our frozen peas, maybe they'll finally fix these stupid machines. My rule is anything under a dollar I let go, but once it's over a buck I'm hitting that help button every single time.
