That friend who called my meal prep 'depressing' actually had a point

Last month my buddy Mark from work saw my tupperware of plain chicken and rice and said it looked like hospital food. At first I got defensive but then I realized he was right. So I started adding different spices and rotating veggies like broccoli and bell peppers. Now my lunches actually taste good and I still hit my protein goals for $35 a week. Anyone else get feedback that made them change up their routine?

Funny how we get stuck in a routine and don't even taste the food anymore, just eat it for the numbers. Mark might have saved you from falling off the meal prep wagon completely - being bored of eating is a one way ticket to hitting the drive thru. The real game changer nobody talks about is how much your gut bacteria affects your mood and energy. Bland chicken and rice day after day might hit your macros, but it's not doing your microbiome any favors. That variety of veggies and spices is feeding way more good bugs than plain food ever could.

It's the same reason people drive the same route to work instead of trying new roads.
