That trick with putting a wooden spoon over a boiling pot actually works
My pasta water kept bubbling over every time I made dinner, and I finally tried laying a wooden spoon across the top of the pot last night. No spill at all. Has anyone else had that old kitchen hack actually save them from scrubbing the stove?

My experience with that hack usually ends with me forgetting the spoon is there and accidentally launching it across the kitchen when I grab it wrong. The real test was last Tuesday when my sauce bubbled up so high it nearly escaped, but the spoon held the line like a tiny wooden bouncer. Guess my years of burning pasta are officially over, unless I find a new way to mess it up.

@Sandra_bennett59 I feel your pain with the spoon launching thing, that used to happen to me all the time until I started using a silicone spatula instead. It stays put better and doesn't slide off like a wooden spoon does. The key is finding a tool that works with your cooking style and won't add to the chaos.
