The week I switched from wiping front to back to patting dry with a washcloth
I picked up a bidet attachment for $35 at Home Depot after my third hemorrhoid flare up in six months. The first few days I felt like I was learning to use a fire hose but after a week the difference in irritation was huge. Now I barely use toilet paper at all and I never realized how much rubbing was the real problem. Has anyone else found a similar fix that actually worked long term?

Pat drying can be a game changer just make sure the washcloth is clean each time so you don't swap one problem for another.

I read somewhere that using a fresh microfiber cloth can help even more because it grabs onto bacteria better than regular cloth. Definitely worth trying if you haven't already.

@angela_harris you're right about the microfiber thing. I tried a regular washcloth first and it worked okay but switched to a soft microfiber the other day and it's way better at grabbing everything with one light pat. The key is just tossing it in the laundry pile right away so you're not reusing a damp one. I keep a little basket next to the toilet for dirty ones. Really cuts down on the irritation and you don't get that scratchy feeling.
