This thing people do with their grocery list drives me up a wall

I keep seeing folks at the store near my house in Phoenix grab a cart and wander around without any list at all. They end up buying random stuff they don't need and forgetting the one thing they came for like milk or bread. My neighbor did this last Saturday and spent $85 on snacks but forgot the eggs for his kid's breakfast. Why not just jot down five things on your phone before walking in? Has anyone else noticed how much time and money this wastes?

Three minutes staring at soup is a lot, but is that really a crisis worth getting upset over? Some people just enjoy wandering the aisles and don't mind making a second trip for eggs. It's their money and their time, not like they're robbing a bank.

Totally agree with you on this one. I was at Walmart last week and watched a guy just kind of staring at the soup aisle for what felt like five minutes before grabbing three cans of stuff he probably didn't need. My own trick is even simpler, I just take a picture of the inside of my fridge before I leave the house. That way I know exactly what I'm out of and I don't end up buying a second jar of pickles because I forgot I already had one at home. It saves me so much time and money, I'd say probably around 20 bucks a week easy. People without any system at all just seem to be throwing cash away and wasting gas driving back for the one thing they forgot.

The fridge pic trick is genius, I gotta start doing that myself.
