Vent: I was giving my team the wrong kind of feedback for years

Honestly, I thought being direct and just pointing out every mistake was the best way to run a shift. What tipped me off was when one of my pickers, Kyle, said 'I know I messed up, but I never know what to do right.' Ngl, that hit me. Has anyone else had to totally flip their management style?

Man, that line from Kyle is a gut punch. It shows the difference between just finding faults and actually teaching someone. I had to learn that pointing out a problem is useless if you don't give a clear fix. Now I try to pair every "this went wrong" with a "here's how to do it next time." It turns a complaint into a real plan they can follow.

Totally agree with you @gracec16. Read something similar about how good feedback is like a road map, not just a stop sign. Makes all the difference when someone actually shows you the way forward lol.

Ever think just pointing out the problem was enough? @gracec16, your comment made me realize how much better it is to actually help fix it.
