Got stuck on a simple plumbing fix for three afternoons running

I was trying to replace the kitchen faucet in my place, something I've seen done in an hour on videos. But the old fittings were so rusted on I spent the first afternoon just trying to break them loose with a wrench and penetrating oil. The second day I gave up and bought a torch to heat the joint, and that took another two hours before it finally budged. Then when I got the new faucet in, the supply lines were just a hair too short for the hookups under the sink. Had to go back to the hardware store the third day to buy longer braided hoses, and by then I had about six hours total into a job that should have been one. Has anyone else run into a simple home repair that turned into a multi day project like that?

Man that's the universal home repair experience right there. Those YouTube tutorials make everything look like a 15 minute job but they never show the 3 days of fighting rusted fittings. Three afternoons for a faucet is basically a rite of passage at this point.

Wait, you mean I'm not the only one who spent three days on a faucet that was supposed to take an hour? Those YouTube videos are basically lies, they edit out all the swearing and the trips to the hardware store for parts they don't mention. I swear my last one, the shut off valve under the sink just crumbled in my hand when I touched it. Then you're stuck trying to find the main water shut off for the whole house at 9pm on a Sunday.

Nah, mine took four afternoons because I broke the water line twice.
