Old flip phone vs. today's maps, one missed exit changed it
Used to just know the back roads between Tacoma and Olympia, zero GPS. Yesterday I watched my phone reroute me twice and I still missed the turn because I was staring at the screen. Anyone else feel better when they just look at the road signs?

Does the phone actually make us worse at noticing our surroundings, or is it just giving us an excuse to not pay attention? I caught myself missing a simple exit last week because I was waiting for the voice to tell me, instead of just reading the damn sign that was right there. Would you trade the convenience if it meant you never missed a turn again?
