Pro tip: that $45 windshield repair kit made things worse

I tried one of those DIY resin kits on a crack near the edge of my windshield last week, and now the whole thing spiderwebbed across the driver's side. Cost me $45 for the kit, then $280 for a replacement at the shop on 12th street. Has anyone else had a mobile repair guy do a better job for around the same price, or is it always a gamble?

Did the crack stop where the kit cured, or keep going?

Took me a while to believe it myself, honestly. I used to think those crack repair kits were just a band-aid, like you'd be chasing the crack down the wall forever. But I tried one on a hairline that ran from a window corner and it stopped dead at the resin line, no joke. The stuff really does seep in and lock the whole thing together, not just the surface. Now I'm the one telling people to give it a shot before they call a drywall guy, though I still patch the area with mud after to hide it. Have you seen it travel past the cured spot, or is it just sitting there?
