Swapped my morning run for a walk after 3 months of fighting it

I used to think walking was cheating, you know, like if you weren't gasping for air it didn't count. But my knees started aching after every 4 mile jog (I'm 47, not 27 anymore) so I tried a brisk 40 minute walk instead last week. Honestly, I feel less beat up and I actually notice the trees and birds now instead of just staring at the pavement. Has anyone else made a switch like this and stuck with it?

I hear you on the "walking felt like cheating" thing... I had the same thought for years. Made the switch about six months ago after my hip started giving me trouble, and it took a good few weeks before my brain stopped telling me I was being lazy. What really helped me was finding a good podcast or audiobook that I only let myself listen to on those walks, makes it feel like something I'm doing for me rather than something I'm just settling for. You might notice the benefits adding up faster than you think too, I actually dropped a few pounds after switching because I wasn't skipping days from being sore anymore.

Take that podcast idea and run with it @olivia_moore, maybe even try a new genre each week to keep things fresh.
