The old guy at the bus stop who knew my name
A few months back I was waiting for the 72 bus on Hawthorne and this older man sat down next to me. He said 'you're the one who helps Mrs. Chen with her groceries on Tuesday afternoons, right?' I had no idea he even noticed me doing that for like two years. Turns out he lived three doors down from her and saw me every week from his porch. Have you ever had a stranger know something about you that you didn't even realize was visible?

and the wildest part is thinking about how many other people have probably noticed stuff about us that we just totally miss. like, we walk around thinking we're invisible but there's always someone paying more attention than we realize. it's kind of creepy but also comforting in a weird way.

The guy at my local coffee shop probably knows my order and my bad moods better than my own brother does. I once had a stranger ask if I was okay just because I was zoning out on the train for like five minutes straight. It's wild how we think we're blending in when we're actually broadcasting everything.
