The pigeon in the Boston Public Garden has one leg and clearly runs the place
Sat on a bench near the duck statues in Boston Public Garden for about 20 minutes on my lunch break. There's this one pigeon with a single leg that kept chasing off every other bird from a pile of pretzel crumbs some kid dropped. He hopped in a circle around the pile, puffed up, and stared down a goose twice his size until it walked away. I counted him winning four standoffs in five minutes flat. It made me think about how we always assume the bigger or faster thing wins, but this guy had a whole strategy going. Anyone else ever watch an animal that clearly lost the genetic lottery and somehow ended up on top anyway?
