Thought my air compressor was dying until I found the actual problem

Was out on a fence job in Round Rock, compressor sounded like it was gonna blow up, turned out the intake filter was completely clogged with dust and spider webs from sitting in my truck bed all summer. Anyone else ever spend an hour troubleshooting something dumb like that before realizing the fix takes 30 seconds?

My buddy Mike spent two hours changing spark plugs in his old truck before he realized the gas cap was loose. Felt like such a rookie.

violar35, wait, Mike really thought loose gas cap symptoms were spark plugs? That is seriously impressive in a painful way. Idk, I guess we all have those moments where we just go down the wrong rabbit hole and can't turn back.

Oh man, that reminds me of the time I spent a whole afternoon chasing a weird noise in my car's engine bay, only to find out it was just a loose heat shield rattling around. @sandra_bennett59, you're totally right about those rabbit holes, it's always the simplest stuff that gets you!

Yeah I get what you're saying but honestly I think changing the plugs was still worth doing. Old trucks need maintenance anyway so it's not like the time was totally wasted.
