Took me 7 hours to fix a leaking bathroom faucet that just needed a new o-ring
I spent all Saturday afternoon going back and forth to the hardware store for parts I didn't need before my brother-in-law swung by and pointed out the rubber seal was dry rotted, has anyone else overcomplicated a simple fix like that?

Oh man, is this the most relatable thing ever? I did the exact same thing last year with my garbage disposal. I watched like five YouTube videos, bought a whole wrench set and new plumbing pipe, then my neighbor came over and was like "did you try pressing the reset button on the bottom?" It was just tripped. I felt so dumb wasting three hours and fifty bucks on stuff I didn't need.

Yeah I used to think that advice was way too basic but your story totally changed my mind lol.

I used to roll my eyes at the "check the simplest thing first" advice, but your story made me realize I've been the guy buying wrenches for a reset button too many times.
