I finally hit 10,000 steps every day for 90 days straight

A few months back I bought a cheap pedometer just out of curiosity. I never really thought about how much I moved in a day. But after the first week I noticed most days I was under 4,000 steps. So I set a goal of 10,000 every day just to see if I could do it. Yesterday marked 90 days in a row and honestly it surprised me how many little things changed. I sleep better at night and my back doesn't ache like it used to. But the weird part is I didn't change my diet or anything drastic. Has anyone else seen real physical changes from just walking more without changing anything else?

Just a heads up that 10,000 steps thing was originally a marketing trick from a Japanese pedometer company in the 60s, not actual science. Still a solid goal if it works for you though. Good on you for sticking with it that long.

Yeah danielnelson pretty much nailed it. The whole 8 glasses of water a day thing started the same way, just a random number someone made up. At least the step goal gets people moving which is better than nothing.

Isn't that how most of our health rules end up, a marketing thing we just keep doing?
