Just flipped on pool chemicals after a nasty green algae mess

I used to swear by chlorine tablets for my pool, always dumped a few in every week at my place in Tempe. But after I came home to a full-on swamp last Tuesday (completely green, like 50 degrees visibility), I had to switch to liquid shock and algaecide on the fly to clear it up. It took two days of scrubbing and measuring, but now the water's crystal clear and I'm honestly sold on the liquid stuff. Has anyone else had a similar defeat with tablets and found a better fix?

Liquid shock kills algae way faster than tabs ever could for me too.

My buddy tried tabs for a month, switched to liquid, pool was clear in one day.

Man that's exactly what I found too. Tried the tabs for a while thinking they were the same thing but they just don't hit the algae hard enough. Liquid shock clears up a green pool in like a day for me where tabs would take almost a week. Plus you gotta brush the walls way more with tabs or the algae just sits there laughing at you. My neighbor kept fighting algae for two weeks straight and I told him to switch to liquid, bam gone in 48 hours. Just make sure you test your cyanuric acid levels after a few rounds of liquid shock cause it can drop low.
