The moment I realized I'd been washing my jeans wrong for years.

I always turned them inside out for the washer, but kept using hot water. Then my sister who works at a Levi's store in Denver told me cold water only. She said the heat breaks down the indigo way faster. Anyone else get a basic laundry thing totally backwards for way too long?

Got a pair of raw denim from a thrift store once and thought I was doing great by never washing them at all. Just threw them in the freezer every few months to kill the smell. Turns out that doesn't actually work for bacteria, just makes your jeans cold and still kinda stinky. My buddy's wife who runs a small vintage shop told me I basically had a science experiment growing in the crotch area. Had to soak them in vinegar and cold water and that finally did the trick. Now I do cold water inside out and hang dry like a normal person.

Did you read that study about how freezing jeans doesn't actually kill bacteria, @wesleyb20?

Wait, you had to soak them in vinegar? Like a full cup or just a splash in the water?
