Unpopular opinion: I was seasoning my cast iron skillet completely wrong for 3 years

Honestly I thought you needed a ton of oil to build up a good layer. Then I watched a video from a guy at a Lodge factory in Tennessee and he said use barely a drop. Now my eggs slide around like they're on ice after just two coats. Has anyone else been overdoing it this whole time?

My buddy Ryan used half a bottle of oil before he saw that same video.

Completely agree! I used to glop on oil like crazy until I saw the same kind of video and now my pan is way smoother than it ever was before.
