Was totally against meal delivery kits until my sister forced me to try one last month
I thought those meal kit boxes were such a waste of money and packaging. But my sister signed me up for a free trial box after she saw me eating cereal for dinner three nights in a row. I picked a Thai basil beef bowl and it came with a little card that had step by step photos. Honestly I messed up the rice to water ratio but the sauce packet saved the whole thing. It tasted way better than anything I would have thrown together from my sad fridge. Now I'm considering a subscription but I can't decide if the cost is worth not having to think about dinner. Has anyone else had to eat their words about something they judged beforehand?

I read an article last month that said meal kits actually produce less food waste than grocery shopping because they give you exactly what you need. That surprised me since I always thought of all that cardboard and plastic. Your story about the rice to water ratio is exactly why I'd probably mess it up too but at least they send the exact amount. A buddy at work swears by the vegetarian box just for the variety and he's a big meat eater normally.

Have you noticed whether you actually eat more veggies with the kits or just stick to what you know?

My buddy said the same thing about the vegetarian box and he's a grilling guy. It took reading your comment to really get it though. I always figured the packaging was worse than anything else, but if the waste from unused groceries is the bigger problem then it makes sense. The one time I tried a kit for the chicken recipe I was shocked at how little I threw away compared to my standard shopping trip.
