Chose the dollar store mop over the fancy spin bucket and my kitchen floor has never been cleaner
Last Saturday I stood in the aisle at a hardware store in Tulsa holding two mops like a fool. One was a $34 spin bucket thing with a pedal, and the other was a plain $6 string mop from the dollar store down the road. I went with the cheap one mostly out of spite, since I was already annoyed at how much I'd dropped on new blinds that morning. Got home, filled a bucket with hot water and a splash of vinegar, and mopped the whole kitchen in about 15 minutes flat. The string head actually gets into the corners by the stove where my old flat mop just pushed crumbs around. I did have to wring it out by hand, which is a little gross, but it dried fast and my floor looks better than it has in a year. Now I'm wondering if I just got lucky with this cheap thing or if the fancy spin buckets are mostly hype. Has anyone gone back to a plain string mop after using one of those pedal buckets?
