Fell for a $150 'productivity' app and it actually made me slower

I bought this app called Amplenote like 3 months ago. It promised to combine notes, tasks, and calendar into one system. Paid for a whole year upfront. After 2 weeks I realized I was spending more time organizing the app than actually doing work. Uninstalled it yesterday and went back to a plain text file. Has anyone else dropped cash on some tool that ended up being a total time suck?

OH MAN this hits SO close to home. I think the BIGGEST trap with these apps is that they make you feel productive just by fiddling with settings and tags and folders. You're literally tricking your brain into thinking you're working when really you're just rearranging digital furniture. The plain text file is actually genius because it forces you to focus on the actual content instead of the container. I bet half the people who buy these fancy tools would be better off with a simple notebook and a pen. Sometimes LESS is actually MORE when it comes to getting things done.

Spent three hours color-coding my Notion yesterday and got zero actual work done.

Man @the_claire called it perfectly, huh... any chance you actually got anything useful done with all those colors?
