Had to pick between a cheap trimmer and a nicer one for the backyard

I was at the hardware store in Fresno yesterday trying to decide between a $30 electric trimmer and a $80 gas model for my overgrown fence line. I went with the cheaper one since I was on a budget, and it died after 15 minutes of light weeds. Anyone else regret going the budget route on yard tools?

Wait, it died after only 15 minutes of light weeds? That's wild. I mean, I knew the cheap ones weren't great but I figured they'd at least get through a single session before giving up. I've definitely been there though, thinking I was saving money only to end up paying more in the long run. For things like trimmers or mowers, it feels like $30 is just asking for trouble these days. Maybe it's just me but the middle ground around $50 usually works better for me, enough to last a season or two without breaking the bank. Hope you can get that one swapped out or your money back, that's just ridiculous.

$50 is the sweet spot for sure, those bottom barrel ones are pure waste.

Respectfully disagree, I've had cheap ones last years.
