My dad told me to water my lawn at 5 AM instead of 7 PM and I thought he was crazy

He said the water would soak in better and less would evaporate, so I tried it for 2 weeks straight. My grass is actually greener and I'm using way less water than before. Has anyone else gotten advice from an older relative that actually worked out better than you expected?

Started watering my tomatoes at dawn last month after my grandpa said the same thing and they're way bigger than last year. Never thought he'd be right about something so random but here we are.

Dawn watering made my cucumbers explode this year too. Old folks know their stuff.

Yeah that checks out. I started doing the same thing with my hydrangeas last summer. They went from looking sad and droopy by noon to actually holding up through the whole day. The water just sits in the soil instead of cooking off in the sun. Little stuff like that adds up over time.
