Shoutout to the neighbor who waters my porch plants
I keep seeing posts where people complain about neighbors being nosy or taking their packages. But my neighbor Linda has been watering my dying basil and mint for 3 weeks straight while I'm on delivery routes. She gets nothing out of it and I didn't even ask. Anyone else got a small win from an unexpected person nearby?

Tbh when I first read "neighbor who waters my porch plants" I thought here we go another nosy person minding someone else's business. But honestly I was totally wrong. My old neighbor used to complain about people borrowing their tools so I had this idea that neighbors were just trouble waiting to happen. But then my own neighbor Tom showed up with a casserole when I had a bad week and I realized I was being a grump for no reason. It's really cool how someone can just quietly help out without making it a whole thing. Linda sounds like a real one, not everyone would notice a dying plant let alone care enough to water it.

Yeah @kelly638 I was the same way honestly. Used to keep to myself thinking neighbors just meant drama, but little things like watering plants or grabbing mail can totally flip that around.

My neighbor two doors down used to leave his trash cans out for three days at a time, and I let it bother me for months before realizing he was an elderly widower. I finally just helped him roll them back one Tuesday and now we trade garden tips, so I think @kelly638 is onto something about how a small gesture changes everything. Not saying everyone needs to be best friends with their neighbors, but letting a little help in might surprise you more than the drama ever does.
