Spent $28 on a fancy desk lamp and it changed my whole work from home setup

I grabbed one of those adjustable LED lamps from Target after getting sick of the dim overhead light in my apartment. It has this gooseneck arm and three brightness levels, and now I don't get headaches by 2pm anymore. Did anyone else drop cash on something small that actually made a big difference in your daily routine?

Got a similar lamp for around 15 bucks at IKEA and it works just as well. That 28 dollar price tag might be a bit steep for what's basically a bendy light.

Yeah totally, and the thing is with those IKEA ones they usually come with a plain white cord or whatever, but this one has that braided fabric cord which is kinda nice if you care about that stuff. But honestly 28 bucks for a lamp that's basically the same as the 15 dollar one feels like you're just paying for the looks at that point. I grabbed one of the IKEA ones a few months back and it's still holding up fine, clamp's good and the neck doesn't droop or anything. The price difference is basically the cost of a burrito, so unless you really love that specific color or cord pattern, I'd say stick with the cheap one and use the saved money on something else.

I see what you're saying about the burrito comparison, but I actually look at it differently. In my experience, those cheaper IKEA lamps have a flimsy clip and the cord gets stiff after a few months in the sun. For me, spending an extra 13 bucks on something I use every single day for years feels worth it, kinda like buying nicer shoes instead of cheap ones that fall apart.

Honestly I used to think the whole braided cord thing was just a gimmick to charge more, but after seeing a buddy's lamp with one I get it now. You're still right though, 28 bucks is a lot for something IKEA does for half that.
