Why does nobody talk about how long it takes to fix a simple leaky faucet?
I spent four hours last Saturday replacing a kitchen faucet cartridge, but the drip didn't stop. Turns out I needed to replace the whole valve body, which added another three hours and a trip to the hardware store. Has anyone else run into a job that seemed small but ate up your whole day?

Blew a whole Saturday on the same thing a few months back, man. Thought it was just a bad washer, ended up having to cut into the wall because the shutoff valve was seized and I couldn't even turn the water off. Then the new valve didn't fit the old copper pipe, so I had to buy a bunch of adapters and a tubing cutter. My advice is to always shut the water off at the main before you start messing with faucets, and buy the whole valve stem assembly, not just the cartridge, because those plastic cartridges always crack.

Ngl, you're lucky the pipe didn't burst while you were fighting that seized valve.

Absolutely hate when that happens. Did you at least check if the new valve body was the right depth? Because that got me once. Bought a universal replacement and it was a quarter inch too short. Had to go back three times before I found one that actually fit my sink. Makes you wonder if they even test this stuff before putting it on shelves.
