Found out my morning commute is exactly 47 minutes longer than I thought

I was looking at my Google Maps timeline this afternoon (out of boredom, honestly) and noticed something wild. Turns out I've been driving 12 extra miles each way for the last 6 months because I go the "scenic" route without realizing it. That's like 30 extra hours of driving per year just from taking the pretty road instead of the highway. Has anyone else discovered a basic fact about their own routine that totally blindsided them?

My buddy realized he'd been taking the same wrong exit for eight months just because the first time he drove to work he followed his GPS and never questioned it. He said when he finally took the right way he saved 15 minutes each direction but it felt weirdly faster anyway because the road was emptier. Kind of makes you wonder how many other little things we just autopilot through without a second thought.

Read somewhere that scenic drives actually reduce stress even if they take longer.

Less stress and better gas mileage if you keep it steady.
