My coffee machine died at 6am today. Pour over saved me.

Woke up to a gurgle then silence. My 3 year old drip machine just quit. No warning no blinking lights nothing. Had to dig out my old plastic pour over cone from the back of the pantry. Took 7 minutes to boil water and drip a single cup. Might just stick with pour over from now on. Anyone else have a kitchen gadget just give up on a random Tuesday?

Saw a YouTube video the other day about how these basic plastic pour overs are pretty much indestructible compared to drip machines. My friend's been using the same Melitta cone since 2014. Her fancy Cuisinart lasted two years. I think there's something to that. Might have dodged a bullet with this forced upgrade.

The 2014 cone is probably older than some of the plastic they use now too, since they changed the BPA-free formula around 2017 which made them slightly more brittle. So your friend might have the gold standard version.
