That crowded bus stop on 3rd made me ditch my phone for good
Went to the central branch downtown yesterday around noon, figured the self-checkout kiosk would take 30 seconds like it always does. Instead there was a line of six people, and the lady in front of me had three kids and a stack of picture books, each one barcode not scanning. She kept apologizing and the kids were bouncing off the walls. I was huffing, checking my watch, thinking about the parking meter ticking at 25 cents every 15 minutes. Ten minutes later I get to the front and the machine works perfect, no issues at all. That's when it hit me, I never slow down for anything, and here was this poor mom just trying to get her kids some books. The small surprise was that I actually felt grateful for that delay, it forced me to look around and see the librarians helping an old man with a printout. Has anyone else had a frustrating wait turn into a moment that made you change your daily routine?
