Vent: lost my keys at the Baton Rouge Walmart on Sunday and a total stranger saved my whole day
So last Sunday I'm at the Walmart on Siegen Lane in Baton Rouge grabbing stuff for a cookout. I get home around 3pm and my keys are gone. Not in my pocket, not in the car, nowhere. I tore apart my house for two hours, checked the couch like five times, dug through the trash. Then I drove all the way back to the store and the lady at customer service pulls out this little bin. There they were, sitting right on top. Some guy had turned them in at 2:15, like ten minutes after I left the register. I never got his name, the worker just said it was a man in a red cap. I keep thinking about it, this total stranger did a small thing that saved me probably $200 on a locksmith plus the worst afternoon. What do you even do in that situation? I want to pass it on somehow but I don't know who he is.
The ripple effect thing is real though. That guy in the red cap will probably never know what he did, but you can bet someone else will get that same feeling from you someday. Next time you spot a wallet on a gas pump or a phone left on a table, you'll remember this and you won't even think twice about turning it in. Small stuff like that adds up more than people give it credit for. Maybe write a quick note to the store manager saying thanks for keeping the bin, since those workers don't hear it enough either.
