Why does nobody tell you the laundry sink beats the washing machine for greasy work clothes
Last Tuesday I had two pairs of work pants covered in hydraulic fluid and I ran one pair through the machine on heavy duty and scrubbed the other by hand in the basement sink with Dawn and a stiff brush. The hand scrubbed pair came out clean in about 8 minutes and the machine pair still had grey smudges after a full 45 minute cycle. My wife pointed out I have been wasting detergent and hot water for 3 years on this. Anyone else just give up and do the gross stuff by hand first?
What did the hand scrubbing actually pull out of the pants, straight grease or was it the fine dirt stuck in the weave? I'm trying to figure out if the sink wins because of the brush or just because you caught it before the machine set the stain in.
