Chose the 2 AM calf check over sleep, and that one choice saved a heifer and her twin
Last Thursday I had to pick between sleeping through the night or dragging myself out to the barn at 2 AM to check a heifer that looked off at evening feed. I went out, found her down and straining, and pulled a backwards calf on the straw in the dark, then a second one right after. What's your rule for when a gut feeling at 2 AM is worth losing sleep over?
